Slow cooker applesauce today! And, my first Blog entry....lol I think. My first time, ever canning Applesauce. No recipe just got apples from my Aunt and got busy last night peeling and put about 1/3 in the crock pot over night. Woke up Saturday morning eagerly awaiting delivery of our new Cow and calf we have been planning to have the last 5 years and we finally made it happen. In the morning they had cooked so I mashed them with a mashed than used a hand mixer to blend them to smooth consistency. Added vanilla and cinnamon. Can’t say what amount I used on anything. Processed 4 pints for 20 mins in prepared/sterilized jars, lids & rings. My son taste tested and said it passed! finished peeling the rest with my little helper. I got done putting the rest in the crock pot and a pot on the stove just in time for a call from the lady we were buying the cow from saying she was a couple blocks away. Just enough time to get dressed and then the burner off and run outside to direct her to our driveway! We welcomed the cow whose name is Mandy who is bred for another baby next spring and her calf we got to name Candy! We visited and got them situated then went to th e feed store and to lunch which was now about 3:30pm! Got back and canned the rest! Total of 14 pints and 1 that didn’t seal that I tasted! Yummmm midnight snack! what a productive full 24 hours of canning applesauce and new cows! 🍎 🍏 🐮 🐄 Categories |
